The 40th annual Kentucky Alfalfa and Stored Forage Conference will occur virtually over three days in March on Zoom.

The conference will occur from 6-8 p.m. March 2-4. It is jointly hosted by the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment and the Kentucky Forage and Grassland Council.

March 2 topics will include measuring forage quality, using forage quality to market hay and alfalfa drying rates. May 3 topics will cover adjusting hay equipment to minimize losses, new data on maturity differences in alfalfa and orchardgrass and an awards presentation. March 4 presentations will include managing alfalfa for thinning stands. March 4 will also feature a producer panel that includes Kentucky farmers Dennis Wright, Brad Hines and Clayton Geralds. They will share their experience on harvesting alfalfa when the weather is not cooperating, including which fields to cut first.

At the conclusion of each day, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions of the day’s presenters.

Preregistration is required to attend the free conference. Participants can choose to attend one or multiple days.
