UK Robinson Center Mountain Monday Series offers equine focus
The University of Kentucky College of Agriculture Robinson Center for Appalachian Resource Sustainability is hosting an evening focused on basic equine and forage management at its next installment of the Mountain Monday Series May 13.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. EDT at the center’s auditorium. The program will help participants evaluate what they feed their horses by helping them assess the animals’ nutrient needs and using body condition scoring to double check feeding and management strategies. Participants will also learn about basic soil management including soil testing, fertility, seeding and weed control.
UK equine specialist Robert Coleman and UK hay specialist Tom Keene will lead the program.
For more information or to register, contact Jackie Allen, Robinson Center business manager, at 606-666-2438, ext. 285.
The Mountain Monday Series is the second Monday of each month. The series also will stream live on the Internet athttp://www.ustream.tv/channel/mountainmonday. The June installment will focus on starting fall vegetable plants, and the July program will focus on grilling foods.
