The second annual Kentucky Dairy Partners meeting will be March 3 and 4 at the Cave City Convention Center. This year's theme is "Partnering for Profitability and Progress." Dairy producers, industry representatives and anyone interested in the dairy industry are welcome to attend.
Exhibit viewing begins March 3, from 6 to 8 p.m. CST. Registration begins March 4 at 8 a.m. After a welcome, presentations by Alltech and the University of Kentucky dairy group will offer participants an opportunity to learn about new developments in the dairy industry in Kentucky and beyond.
Annual meetings of the Kentucky Dairy Development Council, the American Dairy Association of Kentucky and the Southeast United Dairy Industry Association will offer insight into forging new roads for dairy sales.
Alan Reed of Dairy Management Inc. will discuss dairy growth opportunities in ingredients and UK Milk Coordinator Chris Thompson will give details about the "The Tanker of Tomorrow," the result of UK's cooperation with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the office for Hometown Security in Somerset to protect the nation's bulk milk transportation system.
The day will wrap up with a value-added panel discussion featuring Pat Kennedy of Stone Cross Farm, Eugene Myatt of Burkmann Feeds and Marlen Saunders, an organic dairy operator.
Sponsors include the UK College of Agriculture, the Kentucky Dairy Development Council, Kentucky American Dairy Association/SUDIA and the Kentucky Department of Agriculture.
Two producers per dairy operation will receive free registration courtesy of the Kentucky Dairy Development Council. The fee for other participants is $25 per person. All registrations will be taken at the door.
