Kentucky Certified Crop Advisers can now earn some of their continuing educational units online through the Crop Protection Network.

The Crop Protection Network is an international partnership of extension specialists and public and private professionals who strive to provide farmers with unbiased, research-based information. CPN is a product of land-grant universities. Kiersten Wise, a plant pathologist in the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, is a co-director of the network.

Certified Crop Adviser is a program of the American Society of Agronomy that is the industry standard for crop consultants. To maintain their certification, advisers must complete a certain number of professional educational trainings each year. They can attend these trainings in person or online.

“We are excited to provide this opportunity to CCAs, so they earn credits on their own schedule using the research-based information available from the Crop Protection Network,” Wise said. “The Crop Protection Network already provides a number of high quality publications related to field crop production, and we look forward to developing additional resources to keep CCAs informed of the latest research.”

Certified Crop Advisers can earn the online credits by reading CPN publications and receiving a passing score of 70 on a corresponding quiz. Advisers can visit CPN’s publications web page at https://cropprotectionnetwork.org/resources/publications to view publications with continuing educational unit quizzes.

The network has 19 quizzes available. Each quiz is worth 0.5 continuing education units in the integrated pest management category. The American Society of Agronomy will receive quiz results each month and will reward those with passing scores.
