A delegation of Kentucky 4-Hers got to investigate a wide variety of the latest high-tech systems at the recent National 4-H Technology Conference held in St. Paul, Minn.

“The conference demonstrated the emphasis 4-H puts on integrating technology into its programs of life-building skills,” said Wendy Stivers, University of Kentucky 4-H/Youth Development Specialist.  “The conference also was a key national event celebrating the centennial year of 4-H and the power of youth.”

Technology events showcased at the conference included a GPS orientation event, robotics and simulation contests, an “online community” tool for 4-H tech teams, and opportunities for online mentoring with industry leaders to create new products.  Youth participants also explored technology applications in art, science, international programs, community development, natural resources and club management.

Attending from Kentucky were Christopher Cullen, Hopkins County 4-Her; Maria Contini, Jessamine County 4-Her; Stephanie Moses, Jefferson County 4-Her and Kentucky’s representative to the National 4-H Technology Leadership Team; Kay Kass, Jessamine County volunteer; Matt Arnold, Hopkins County volunteer; and Wendy Stivers, 4-H/Youth Development Specialist.

The more than 275 conference delegates represented high school students and adults from 40 states.
