Andrew Bunting has written more than 100 articles for several popular gardening publications including American Gardener, Fine Gardening, Public Garden and Arnoldia. This Old House magazine and the Wall Street Journal have featured his home garden, Belvidere. The Arboretum, State Botanical Garden of Kentucky, will welcome Bunting to the University of Kentucky campus Feb. 11 to talk about the evolution of Belvidere as part of The Arboretum’s Founders’ Lecture Series.

Bunting is the curator at the Scott Arboretum of Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania, where he has worked for the past 25 years. He also owns a design/build garden company called Fine Garden Creations, in its 21st year. He’s spent time perfecting his gardening talent at Chanticleer, Morton Arboretum and Chicago Botanic Garden as well as gardens in England and New Zealand.

Bunting’s lecture will begin at 7 p.m. EST at the Gluck Equine Research Center on the UK campus, 1400 Nicholasville Road. Friends of the Arboretum is sponsoring the lecture series. General admission is $5 per person, but is free for Arboretum Friends and students with an ID. Preregistration is not required. The International Society of Arboriculture will offer a one-hour continuing education credit for lecture attendees.

The Arboretum was created in 1991 as a joint effort between UK and the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government. The mission of The Arboretum, which is housed within the UK College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, is to showcase Kentucky landscapes and serve as a resource center for environmental and horticultural education, research and conservation.
